Gigslutz Tracks Of The Week, 13.06.14 and other cool GBM stuff.

My favourite kind.

Last weekend I decided to come off social media for a month or so as a social/psychological experiment to see if life is a better experience when I limit my online interactions. However the band was in crisis as although the other members could update Facebook an important question remained… Who the hell is going to manage Twitter?! Being the only band member knowing how it worked I decided to compromise and said I’d keep my post as the band’s chief hashtag slogan creator. #problemsolved

On Friday I received a Tweet from the music blog Gigslutz saying that “Redemption Caramel” had been picked as one of their Tracks Of The Week, 13.06.14. It was a nice little review in among some cool bands (in particular one of our favourite bands The Wytches), which once again referenced our comparison with Kyuss. None of us had really listened to Kyuss until reviews and audience members started to say we sounded like them. I can see where people come from when they say it. Our music does at times have similarities especially in tracks like The Pilgrim and Writhing. However, despite feeling it’s a song I can relate to, a cover of “One Inch Man” is still a long way off.

Last week we finished off recording our next single release “Social Mobility Blues”. It’s the second track that we’ve recorded at our practice room, but the first track that Glen has taken on the role as producer. His technical prowess was there for the band to see when Simon was recording his guitar and couldn’t hear himself in the headphones. A quick couple of twists of the wire later and problem solved. What a natural.

Coming up this weekend we have a full flavour burst of activity. We’re gigging at The Cluny in Newcastle on Friday (20/06) alongside the Champagne Charlies and The Dead Indians, who really impressed us at this year’s Stockton Calling. Then on Sunday we’re recording an exclusive acoustic track for The Stockton Weekender compilation CD. We’ll let you know how we get on.
